Who does Lencho have complete faith in? Which sentences in the story tell you this?
Answer
Lencho has complete faith in God as he trusts that God sees everything and helps everyone in their worries. The following are the sentences that tell us the same :
- "God", he wrote," if you don't help me, my family and I will go hungry this year".
- But in the hearts of all who lived in that solitary house in the middle of the valley, there was a single hope - help from God.
- All through the night, Lencho thought only of his one hope: the help of God, whose eyes, as he had been instructed, sees everything, even what is deep in one's conscience.
- He wrote 'To God' on the envelope, put the letter inside and still troubled, went to town.
- God could not have made a mistake, nor could He have denied Lencho what he had requested.
- It said, "God of the money that I asked for, only seventy pesos reached me, send me the rest, since I need it very much."

Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho? Why does he sign the letter ‘God’?

The postmaster sends money to Lencho in order not to shake Lencho's faith in God and also, he himself is completely driven by it. The postmaster wants Lencho to believe that the money has been sent by God himself. The postmaster wants that Lencho should not feel disappointed.3

No, Lencho does not try to find out who had sent the money to him because he never doubted the presence of God and had absolute trust in Him. His belief in God was so strong that he started believing that God had sent him money to help him in his problem.
4
Who does Lencho think has taken the rest of the money? What is the irony in the situation?
[Remember that the irony of a situation is an unexpected aspect of it. An ironic situation is strange or amusing because it is the opposite of what is expected.]
Answer
Lencho thinks that the post office employees had stolen the rest of the money because he had demanded for a hundred pesos and in the envelope there were only seventy pesos and God could not commit such a big error. So, he concluded that they had taken the money. The irony is that Lencho suspected those people who had helped him in his problem and tried to keep Lencho's faith in God alive and firm.
5
Answer
It is indeed very difficult to find a person like Lencho in the real world as he is a naive and unquestioning kind of person. He is not stupid if he thinks that God has sent him money. It is because Lencho has tremendous faith in God. In real world, people are greedy and selfish but Lencho is completely different from others.

Answer
Conflict between Humans and Nature
The conflict between humans and nature has been described by the knocking down of Lencho's faith for good rain for a good harvest of his crops as it was the source of bread for his family. He works very hard to feed his family but nature is violent and destroyed everything when the drops of rain turned into hailstorm.
Conflict between Humans
We also came across another conflict in the chapter, that is between humans themselves. This was experienced when the postmaster along with the other employees of the post office thought to help Lencho and for the same, they collected money that Lencho requested from God though they were not familiar with Lencho. At the same time, Lencho found them accountable for the difference in the amount that he got and demanded for. He called them a 'bunch of crooks'. This proved to us that one man does not have faith in other man.
